Tag Coastal lagoons Black Sea

Coastal lagoons along the Black Sea coast of Romania form a dynamic network of brackish and freshwater ecosystems shaped by marine influence and seasonal hydrology. In the Dobrogea region near Constanța, lagoons such as Techirghiol, Histria and Sinoe provide essential habitats for breeding, feeding and migratory bird species. These shallow waters and surrounding saltmarshes support flamingos (occasional), pelicans, terns, gulls, waders, ducks and raptors. Positioned along a major migration corridor, Black Sea coastal lagoons function as critical stopover and wintering sites, making them prime areas for birdwatching and wildlife photography.
